Reinforcing a building’s structure
Fire-resistant protective boarding systems provide effective fire protection for a wide range of structural elements. Their low heat conductivity and high heat absorption mean they can withstand high temperatures for a long period of time and keep the fire contained on the other side of the board.
Structural steel is susceptible to weakening under intense heat so protective boarding systems are used to insulate steel beams, columns and other load-bearing elements to prevent the metal from reaching high temperatures and collapsing.
Protective boards can be installed on ceilings and doors to provide a horizontal fire barrier and limit the spread. They can also be used to line ducts and service shafts, and encase pipes, electrical cables, and conduits that pass through fire-rated walls or floors, so these openings do not become a weak point in the building’s fire defence.
We offer fire compartmentation surveys and can inspect your building to check it has sufficient protective boarding in place to meet regulations or recommend the most suitable protective boarding system.
